Freedom? On the March?
First, let me apologize for not posting in so long. Too much was going in my "other life" for me to concentrate on the wrongs being done by other people. Plus, as the fall of the administration seemed imminent, I figured I could just sit back and enjoy the ride. Until tonight.
First, there were the paid for stories in an Iraq with a "free press." Then I read about Cheney going to a Delay fundraiser to support a long time friend. If I were vice president, and had such friends, I wouldn't be helping them to make money. And we all know, if it were Clinton headed to said fundraiser, the Republican media nest would have swarmed. And now tonight, I caught this little ditty about their failed attempt to ban Clinton from speaking at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Montreal. Are you kidding me?
I come from a family who has been politically aware for a very long time. I have an aunt who marched with MLK, and was jailed for her civil rights activities at least eleven times. Another who wrote nasty letters as a hobby. Even a great grandmother who was involved with Emma Goldman. Which is to say, that I am no stranger to conspiracy theory. I was raised on it.
However, I have labored under the belief that conspiracy is ridiculous, that the average person isn't smart enough to pull off a conspiracy. Which is probably true, but the actions of the Bush administration, that have been made public, make me petrified of what they might have pulled off and gotten away with.
So, suddenly it doesn't all seem that far fetched. Could the cabal that is the Bush administration really have known before they went in, that Iraq had no weapons? Were they that hell bent on revenge, or oil? Are they more sinister than stupid? I fear so.
