Mother Nature, My Enemy
I have seen with Katrina, in Pakistan, in Guatemala, that the way to world peace is to keep having these horrific things happen to the planet! There is something about the weather, or earthquakes, or sunamis that we can all get behind.
As a student of history, I understand that the single most uniting factor, is a common enemy.
Mother nature is the common enemy we've been seeking to fight!
It does not matter that India and Pakistan have nuclear warheads trained on each other, or that Cuba feels poorly treated by us, because we are human and hurting. Suddenly we can't see the difference between the guy in the mudhut in Guatemala and the family in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans.
Katrina was a humbling experience for us. Because now we know, and they know, that we are all human beings, and not even the great United States is immune. It was our 9/11 but by natural causes.
So I'm declaring war on the planet, in an environmentally safe way, of course. It can only bring us together. Now if we could have a tornado hit Crawford, at just the right time...
